This Year’s Pumpkins

Please forgive the fuzziness. It’s the best I can do with my little camera.

OMG!!!

Just a quick hiatus from the hiatus to bring you something I found on A Novel Woman’s blog.

WARNING: if you have a cold with a cough or have asthma that is triggered by laughing, either don’t read this or have your inhaler nearby. I really think that if you watch these you’ll laugh really hard.

If you are a fan of both Monty Python and the original Star Trek (or even if you’re not) I think you’ll like this:

A Break

It appears that I’m taking one without announcing it. I’ll be back when I feel I have something to say. I’ll also be taking a break from reading blogs. I’ll still tweet once in a while.

In the meantime, CONGRATULATIONS VUBOQ!!!

I hope your new job is as fabulous as you are!

Canada Has It, but It’s Always At Risk

So long as we have the Conservative party in power with the heavy right wing, “Christian” agenda those who are different, for whatever reason, will always be at risk of losing their rights.

This man said what I wish my Dad had the balls to believe and say:

In watching this you will see why stupid people are called bird brains and why this parrot is so rare.

A Shortie

  • It snowed last week. There’s still snow on the ground.
  • I got sets 11, 12 and 13 of Midsomer Murders. I’d already had set 4 and 9. I’m waiting to get The Early Cases that we’ve ordered from London Drugs.
  • I’m very nearly well. I cough once in a while and have to blow my nose a little more often than when I’m totally well, but I’m nearly there.
  • Bran and Boy are both sick with the cold.
  • I cut my fingernails today.
  • We had dim sum for Thanksgiving. It was delicious and I was very thankful.

That’s all I can think of right now. If you’re bored go and read Passive/Aggressive Notes. That’ll keep you amused for a while.

I can’t get my WordPress stuff to upgrade automatically, so I have to figure out how to do it manually again. I hate having to do it manually.

What I’ve Been Reading Of Late

Granted not a lot of it has been research related. It could be in a pinch.

  • People of Wal-Mart A blog that makes you go “baroo” and tip your head sideways. Yes, it makes fun of people.
  • Lovely Listing.com A blog that shows the photos that real estate agents shouldn’t. Really, can you imagine looking at a photo of a bathroom with a shit-filled unflushed toilet, or a house defaced with gang graffiti inside and out, and saying, “Yes! That’s the house I want!” The mascot is the plastic deck chair and several listings feature photos of those chairs (and other chairs).
  • There, I Fixed It A blog that shows how people “fix” things in ways that make master builders, mechanics, electricians and other trades people cringe. Of course, once in a while there’s a really clever one.
  • It Made My Day A blog of things that helped people get through their days. Did an asshole get his/her come-uppance while you were watching? This is the place to let people know that.
  • Item Not As Described Here’s where you’ll find those advertisements on Craigs List and Kijiji that amaze and astound you. This is where you’ll find the ones that make you think that someone is trying to avoid the work of hauling off their own junk to the dump.
  • Animals with Casts Yeah, cute critters that end up on casts for various reasons.
  • Dreaming of Kittens Make sure you’ve brushed your teeth before clicking this link. Seriously, there’s enough sweetness on this site to put 10 diabetics into a coma.
  • Stuff on My Cat Just like the tltle says, it’s all about cats with stuff on them. Some of them, however, are hilarious.

These sites are great places for wasting time. Check them out.

I’ve About Had Enough of This

I’m still sick. Can you believe it? I’ve been sick with various and sundry illnesses since September 1st. Here it is the second day of October and I’m still not well. What’s up with that? I’d been taking supplements of all sorts that were supposed to strengthen my body. I’m still coughing, though not as often, it’s still as vehement as before. I also get caught by surprise periodically. All the Keegels that I did in the past year have been shot to hell. I’ll let your imagination take care of that statement. Added to that is the pain and strain put upon my hernia repair. My belly muscles around the repair are quite sore. At least it hasn’t failed…yet.

Work is going ok. The beginning of the week was a bit of a crush with having to do the weekly reports of residents (which I freely screwed up) and the month end and quarterly reports for the Reporting Centre program. I was doing reports all day Monday and Tuesday. It was quite weird on Wednesday to have time to read my morning comics before the end of the morning instead of waiting until I was home from work.

I’ve semi-stopped being vegetarian, at least today. I had a BLT for lunch and then steak for supper. I didn’t want to cook for myself. It was all quite tasty. The fries and asparagus added a lovely touch. I’ll be making cream of broccoli soup sometime in the future. Bran brought sushi home last night after picking Boy up at work. It was tres yummy.

Bran and Boy went to see Zombieland tonight. While they were gone I laid down and had a sleep. I’m still sleepy and will probably go back to bed in a short while. Today beat my butt in terms of fatigue despite going to bed early last night. Being sick for this (an anagram of shit, I just noticed because my fingers were on autopilot) long is wearing on my reserves.

Did I mention that I have set 4 of Midsomer Murders? I do. We’ve ordred “The Early Cases”, a 19 disc set that is only missing set 4. I’m looking forward to building that collection.

My mouse pad is borked. I turn it off because I find that my left thumb will tap it and send the cursor places it wasn’t wanted and screw up my typing. However, despite being turned off the damned thing is still working. I don’t know what the issue is but it pisses me off. Next week I have to pick up my flexible keyboard at school to use at work when I’m doing notes. I hate typing away, getting a nice rhythm and then finding that I’m typing in a paragraph 1/2 a page above where I was. It’s crazy making. I’m not having much luck in the computer department of late. It’s past the time when a direct exchange can be done…I think. I’ll have to check into that.

That’s really about it right now. I can’t think of anything exciting other than that…oh, I’ve been typing notes from a book into my computer. So I guess I’m advancing in terms of my school work. I emailed my supervisor today but haven’t heard back yet.

There. Now I’m really done.
