Sleeping In Rocks!

That’s what I did today. I did it partly because Bran needed to talk about something but wasn’t ready to when I woke up the couple of times that I woke up before I finally got up. I wanted to be home for when he was ready. I also enjoyed the sleep very much. I know, I missed a class for this, but family always comes first. I did go to the statistics class, so it’s not like I was totally slothful.

We went to the computer store at the university and picked up a pair of ear buds for my mp3 player. The ear buds that I had are those ones that sit in the shell of the ear and are flat and disk like. They were too large and hurt my ear shells. These ones have small rubber pieces that make the ear piece actually go into my ear canal and don’t sit on the outer part. I started out with the smallest size, but I noticed that I was getting a lot of ambient noise through them. So I changed to the medium pieces and they worked well at keeping extraneous ambient sounds out and keeping the music in my ears. Tonight I thought of trying the largest of the sizes. They work the best. Much more external sound is blocked out and the music is kept in. I can still hear sounds around me because I don’t have the volume up very high, but it’s much less intrusive. It also means that I can have the music volume lower because it doesn’t have to compete with external sounds. I gave Bran my old ear buds so that he can listen to his music from his laptop.

After I was done class we went downtown and picked up a special treat for Boy. We’ll be moving his computer upstairs into the dining room. We wanted to move only his desk up but with the monitor that he has (the old CRT type) and it takes up a large portion of the desk space he has. He now has a lovely flat panel monitor that will allow him to have loads of desk space for doing homework and still have the monitor an adequate distance from his face. Bran also got more RAM so that his computer will respond much quicker making his game playing more fun.

Then it was to Schmata (a place to get “in” stuff) and got me a new pair of zoomy earrings. The gauge of these are larger than the holes that I have though. The hole I put it in had been empty of earrings for a few weeks because the earring that was in it had broken open and been warped out of shape because it caught on my backpack. At first, when I was trying to get the earring in, I was trying to shove it through my ear pit. An ear pit is a dimple that is in the lobe of the ear rather than bieng on one’s cheek (I got that from Dad, who gave it to me, then I gave dimples in the right place to Boy). Needless to say, that was rather unsuccessful. After much work, I managed to get the earring in, but because of its larger gauge, it’s quite tight. I have to wait until my ear swelling goes down some. However, I now have an earring from which to hang my little goddess pendant.

Oh, the poster sale is on at the university again. I have dragon pictures that I’m going to decoupage onto my laptop lid…I think. It turns out that instead of one copy of one of the pictures, they gave me two copies of it. I shall have to go back and pay the additional $3. I have another dragon as well. One is metalic with blue as a base, the other is metalic with yellow and gold. It’s possible that they won’t end up on the laptop, but they’re going to be somewhere overt. They’re really quite pretty. Bran picked up a huge poster of the Japanese waves. I think it’s a copy of an ancient painting. I know it’s a copy of a painting, the unsure part is whether the painting is ancient or not.

We brought our loot home, suprised and thrilled Boy, picked up Tali and went off to vote in the civic election. The incumbent won. I’m unhappy with that but I did exercise my franchise so I get to complain about the moron in office. The nice thing is that a couple of really good people won their wards as aldermen so they might be able to make up for the putz as mayor.

We ordered in from Hao’s for supper because I had to be at the university for my night class. I had shrimp chow mein and it was very yummy. I love the noodles that it came with. Next time I have it I’m going to add some hot sauce to it. Of course, that assumes that I want something spicy then. I have a three salad roles left over for a snack or for breakfast. I haven’t decided yet.

Tomorrow I’m going to get up about 8, shower and then get on with trying to figure out statistics. I have to learn how to do this stuff. I should be able to do it. I’m smart, no matter what my self-esteem keeps telling me and I know that I can do well. Bran and I will be encouraging each other along to get good marks. Both of us are scared of doing just that, but both of us need and want the best we can do rather than the self-sabataged marks we end up with.

That covers today pretty much. I love my new ear pieces, I really like my new earring (though I still wish I could have gotten a rainbow one but they were too small to fit my fat little lobes). Boy is thrilled with his new monitor and extra RAM and wants to set things up asap. Oh, shit. That reminds me. I have to go and sort some laundry and get some clothing washed so that Boy has gym clothes.
